July meeting change of speaker

Due to illness Deborah is unfortunately unable to attend our July meeting, so sadly we won’t get to meet Dillion.

June 2019 newsletter

Faye of Leagram’s cheese will be enlightening us on the art of cheese making. Faye will also be bringing a selection of cheeses to purchase on the night. Competiton is a decorated cheese board (no cheese).

Gin & bear It with a twist this month, our friend and fellow gin lover, Jo Cleminson has recently moved home and has invited us to join her in celebrating her move as well as toasting a glass to her son’s successful graduation. We are hoping for fine weather on the evening of Thursday the 27th of June from 7pm as we will be holding our annual Summer Walk followed by a picnic on the newly launched Recreation Grounds on Station Road. May Newsletter

We are delighted to be welcoming  Melanie back and to here her updated talk entitled Cheer and Chutney on the 2nd of May at 7.30pm.

Gin & Bear It will be meeting on Saturday the 11th at 7.30pm at Marie Wild home. We are hoping for a fine evening so we can enjoy her stunning garden. If you should like to join us call Sarah Jones on 07795098885.

Walking Group will be meeting at Out Lane at 9.45am on Tuesday the 14th. Walk to be decided on the day dependant on weather conditions.

County Show Ambassador

Karen Robinson has very kindly volunteered to motivate us all to reach our target of 70 enteries into the LFWI County Show, as this is our 70th anniversary year.

Melanie Doyle will be enlightens us with a talk entitled “Stage make-up”, Melanie has worked on many TV shows including Downton Abbey.

Liz Aughton has kindly offered to host our monthly Gin & Bear It get together at her home in Mawdesley. Lifts to and from  will be organised via the Gin & Bear whats App. Theme this month is Easter and will include a visit to see Liz’s hen collection. Walking group are hoping for kind weather, on Tuesday the 9th of April. Meet at Outlane Car Park at 9.45am.

Tuesday the 16th, will see the Luncheon Club try the fayre at Sooty’s Garden Centre, main road to Southport from Tarleton. Please phone Ann Dagg 01772 601043 if you fancy lunch out.

This month Dishy Diners try out their new Wednesday evening slot at Ego at the Fox Cub in Longton. Wednesday the 17th 7.30pm. Ann Nicholson can tell you more on 07732471029.

Don’t forget to sort out some of your gently worn bras to bring along to our May meeting. So if you have a bra or two which no longer fits and or new bras or knickers (black only please). Smalls for All is a charity which supports women in Africa, were wearing a bra and knickers reflects wealth and lessens the women risk to rape.  We will also be collecting for the Red Box UK scheme which is part of period poverty. A red box containing sanitary products, is available in schools which students can ask to access thus enabling them not to miss vital education whilst on their periods.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

March newsletter

Gin & Bear It meet this month on Saturday the 2nd of March at Cath Dobson’s in Castle Walks.  The meeting was themed on big events in March. New members welcome just £7.50 for a night of gin tasting, friendship and laughter. Call Sarah on 07795098885 for more info.

 

March meeting is all about chocolate! Paul from Choc Amour will be enlightening us on the art of making chocolate. Paul will be bringing along delicious chocolate to sell. 10% of all sales will be donated by Paul to our WI which will fund events and trips, now if ever we needed an excuse to buy chocolate! Stock up now for Easter. Thursday the 7th of March, 7.30pm. This month’s competition is an item made from chocolate or sweet wrappers, just a bit of fun and as it envolves requiring empty wrappers we hope many of our members will participate.

The first walk of Spring will take place on Tuesday the 12th … Meet at Out Lane Car Park, by the doctors surgery 9.45am.  Not too taxing walk and usually we manage to find a coffee shop on route and refuel with cake!

Luncheon Club will be sampling the new menu at The Grapes in Croston on Tuesday the 19th of March at Noon. Ann Dagg on 01772 601043 is the lady in the know!

Craft group will meet again on Tuesday the 26th at 7.30pm. The group plan to help Crsoton WI submit at least 70 entries into this years County Show to mark our 70th anniversary. £2.50 to cover hire of hall and materials.

The annual LFWI conference will take place on Thursday the 14th between 10.45am to 3.30pm at Southport Conference Centre. £15 a ticket. This years speakers are Edwina Currie and Sir Ranulph Fiennes, should be a very informative day out. Club will be sampling the new menu at The Grapes in Croston on Tuesday the 19th at Noon. February 2019 Newsletter

Gin & Bear It, Saturday the 2nd February, 7.30 pm at Pauline’s home on Rectory Close.  Come along and taste various gins, the theme of the night is ‘Love’. Laughter, quiz and friendship guarenteed.

Our Monthly  meeting will be held at 7.30pm at The Old School, Church Lane. We will be celebrating our 70th birthday party with a High Tea and a talk on The Life of a Servant In Edwardian Britain. Please remember to bring along your favourite tipple, a glass and your subs, unless of course you signed up last month. Cash or cheque please, as this month is our deadline to submit to LFWI. January 2019 Newsletter

Happy New Year everyone!

A big thank you to everyone for joining us for our first meeting of 2019 including our 13 visitors/ new members.

Next month we are celebrating our 70th birthday with a party including high tea so please remember to bring your favourite tipple and a glass. We kindly as you to take your empties home for recycling.   A draw for Seven, £70 bursaries will take place on the night, please sign up by 8.30pm on the night if you are a fully paid up member. So, please bring along your cheque or cash if you have not yet paid your subs, the deadline is February.
