Novembers meeting will be held on the 26th at Maura Heapy’s home. Where ‘Girl in the Dark’ by Anne Lynsey will be reviewed

This biography details the impact an illness which results in having to exclude light and live in the dark has. Excellent reviews, mention dry humour, bravery, lack of self pity and the generosity it inspires in others who share her story.

Decembers get together will be held on New Years Eve at Janet Mags home, planned book to be reviewed is ‘The Agincourt Bride’ by Joanna Hickson.

The first meeting of 2020 will be hosted by Liz Brown and the planned book for review is ‘The Dry’ by Jane Harper.

September 2019 Newsletter

Our Annual Meeting has come round again so there will be no speaker at our October meeting on Thursday the 3rd but the committee will be reporting and all members have the opportunity to vote on who they should like to be on the new committee, on our charity for next year and there is also some  a fun quiz planned  for our social time.

The following evening is our much anticipated Murder Mystery Evening; The final Curtain which is being held at Croston Sports Club. Thank you to everyone who has supported this sell out event.

Walking Group will meet at Out Lane at 10am on Tuesday the 8th. Just turn up and enjoy a leisurely walk and a coffee and perhaps a cake along the way.

Tuesday the 8th will also see the Crafty Group meeting at 7.30pm. Please let Karen Robinson know on 07751335914 if you would like to attend.

Gin & Bear It will be meeting at Marie Wild’s home at 7.30pm on Saturday the 12th October. All members welcome please contact Sarah Jones to be added to the Whats App group.

UFO (unfinished objects) will be working on decorations for our Christmas Tree entry in St Michael’s and All Angels Annual Christmas Tree festival. Dates for this year are the weekend of 30th Nov and 1st Dec.  Croston WI came 3rd last year can you help us to maintain our podium position? Murder Mystery Night – hurry tickets selling out

4th October, Croston Sports Club. £15 a ticket open to all, bring friends, partners, family.  Ticket includes a meal too, fantastic value for money. Tuesday the 10th .. Walking Group will be meeting at 9.45am at the car park on Out Lane. Just turn up on the morning, usually manage to include a coffee/tea/cake stop off too!

LFWI County Show is being held on Wednesday the 25th and Thursday 26th at Garstang. Transport is being funded on Wednesday the 25th, tickets are £5 on the night or £4 before the 1st Sept. Please text  Sarah on 0779509885 to confirm your attendance and  bring cash to next meeting (7th) or drop your cash in envelope to Karen Yates if you are not at the next meeting. Tickets are non refundable but can be passed to another WI member is you are unable to come on the night.  As per previous years we will be stopping at Owd Nell’s Canalside Tavarn for a beverage and a bit to eat … We are hoping that the annual chip competiton will be in full swing!  Transport will leave the Out Lane car park at 6pm and return before 11pm.

Saturday 6th of July, annual Coffee Day we will be meeting outside St Michael and All Angels 1.30pm as the possession commences at 2.10pm.

Walking Group will be meeting at 9.45am at Out Lane Car Park on Tuesday the 9th. Please feel free just to turn up.

Saturday the 13th will see th Gin & Bear It group meet at Karen Yates home. Hoping for a Summer evening weather wish so we can enjoy food related gins and cake in her wonderful garden.

Luncheon Group are dining at the Grapes on Tuesday the 16th at Noon. Please let Ann Dagg if you would like to come along.

Clayton-Le-Woods have invited us to their Summer Concert at Balshaw High School, Chorley. Admission is £7 and refreshments are available during the interval.

Saturday the 20th sees a celebration on the Croft Field. 12.30pm to 4pm, ribbon cutting at Noon, bring a picnic along.
